Is There A Cabin Filter In 2004 Vw Jetta

  • #1

I've read the instructions and recollect I tin can do this without too much difficulty. I'm wondering two things:

1. I've read that folks spray lysol in there (with fan running, iirc) to disinfect. Is this prophylactic for the fan? I presume it must be if that's what people are doing....

2. Similar the G&N air filters that are sprayed with oil to catch debris, what about spraying the motel filter west/ something like Febreeze to not only aid catch the debris (not that the filter really *needs* the aid...), just also to freshen the air coming in?

I know, information technology might sound goofy for a machine that has substantially become a "second car", just I thought I'd ask since I'thousand going to be doing the job anyway....

Thank you,

Cabin filter should exist replaced 2 times a year. Just supervene upon it no spray in needed.

And I've done the Beetle, so the Jetta shouldn't be too hard. Hither's hoping. :)

replace 2x/twelvemonth

To PeterV - sadly, I'g just learning this (and I've owned the auto since new). And so I'chiliad guessing the filter will exist pretty ugly.... ~170K miles.

Thanks!

i changed my golfs near iv weeks ago...the but matter i got was some sore knuckles from all the scrapes from the plastic putting the new one in. febreze sounds like a cool thought i dont know of any negative side effects and also how long youd wait the scent of febreze to terminal? i cant imagine long. simply go an air freshener.

This is what I did westward/ mine, a B5.5S

I employ a window A/C screen filter, available from Lowes or local hardware stores.
Cutting information technology to size and utilise motorcar silicone caulk along the perimeter to secure it to the filter.

Any specific reason for the screen mod? Seems similar extra/unnecessary resistance for the air trying to pass through.

This thread inspired me to become ahead and change my cabin filter (which I haven't done in two years), fifty-fifty though it didn't stink or anything. Sure enough some little varmint had made a nice bed of moss covering near 2/3 of the filter, and chewed into the filter a scrap every bit well. Apparently the previous possessor broke off the side of the box so it's real easy for them to get in at that place.
